Wroaw's Way Wicked Board

Nope....not me this time!

My girlfriend was driving to work Saturday morning and went off the road into the shoulder, over a ditch and slammed into a concrete bridge doing 45-50 mph. She climbed out of her car into several feet of freezing cold water and stumbled up the embankment onto the road. She attempted to flag someone down but the few cars that went by wouldn't stop. She made it to a house down the road and managed to call 911 from there. She's still in the hospital right now, as she has a crushed vertabrae fracture. She can barely move, and can't sit up without throwing up from the pain.

I've been living in the hospital the past few days...I can't afford to miss work so work, food, and clothes are the only thing I've left the hospital for. Pics of her car are below. I have to help her if she wants to move at all right now. The doctors said she's lucky that she's not paralyzed, and she shouldn't need surgery. Her car hit so hard that the seat ripped out of the frame of the car. Your thoughts and prayers are welcome....

Thats really awful. She must have been terrified. I can't even begin to imagine here limping in a lot of pain just to call 911. :( She will be in my prayers...:o

It was a solo accident? Was it one of those damned squirrels that caused her to swerve off the road?

Yeah, we're pretty sure she was going on just pure adrenaline...I had a hard enough time just getting up the hill. She can't even walk without me holding her up right now so I have no idea how she managed it.

And she's tough in some ways, not in others. She's had 5 open heart surgeries, so her heart isn't exactly tough...but she's tough for getting through this much already.

And because she does have heart problems, I'm still kind of scared shitless because they think they found a blood clot in her leg...if it travels to her heart it could kill her.:(

Yes, solo accident. She was trying to throw an old piece of toast out of the window and wasn't paying attention. Regardless, none of us are mad at her...we're sure she's learned her lesson, and we're just glad she's not dead or paralyzed...she came so close to that, it's unbelievable. We're still not sure how she didnt flip the car or anything...

Glad it wasn't worse! Why did you go off the road in the first place? How long is she expected to stay in hospital? I've been both the patient and the visitor so I know how things like this feel, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for you being there for her Stephen!

And they say God doesn't exist...
