The Cheat Doctrine

Here is my policy concerning the usage of admin punishment. I thought you might find it informative and interesting. You may find it alarming, in which case, you may correct me and I may adopt your suggestions (note that this sentence was written with an indecisive tone).

Article I. Concerning Hackers.

I will always, always permanently ban obvious hackers. On less obvious occasions, I will ask for a second or third opinion from those I trust currently on the server. Of course, I always give a message to the entire server that “hackers will be shown no mercy.” After that, I take action. On a side note, hacking is the only occasion which I use the permanent ban.

Article II. Concerning Microphone Use

This is a controversial topic, but I believe I am fairly lenient. While I do complain about certain types of loud, fuzzy music, I generally do not take action unless they are violating my rule for it. I fit all types of music over the microphone system on Counter-Strike under HLSS, whether it uses the program or not.

Section 1. HLSSing whilst alive.

My chief reason against HLSSing while alive is that I cannot hear any other noises (footsteps, gunshots) when somebody is using the microphone, so when people HLSS, my game sounds are muted continually without pause. I am fairly sure this problem plagues many other people.

If you HLSS and insist on finishing a song, then my recommendation is to kill yourself and anybody else who wishes to listen may kill themselves so as not to bother those who play.

I usually give warnings to those playing music while alive, and if they do not stop, I slay them for the first couple times (at least 3). Only when the offender continues playing music or if the offender is one that I have repeatedly given the warning to several times do I gag. I do not ban for HLSS. Do note that I have “henchmen” who are server regulars who report if somebody is consistently playing music while alive despite complaints, and there are quite a few people on the list.

Section 2. HLSSing whilst not alive.

I usually have no problem with people who HLSS when dead, because loss of in-game sound is of no consequence to me. However, do respect other people’s opinions and if several members of your team ask you to shut up, don’t be arrogant and please do so. HLSSing is only beneficial to the game when people enjoy what you play at that particular time.

Section 3. Exceptions.

Once in a blue moon, I would actually like music to be played while alive. For instance, I like my LOTR maps to go with a pinch of LOTR music (yes, I am an LOTR geek). I always put up a vote, and only when 75% of the server says yes (at least 50% of my team guaranteed) do I play. That is the perk of being an admin: I can get a quantitative determination of who approves of music while alive. If you can’t, then don’t play while alive.

Section 4. Microphone spamming.

It’s annoying to me. Very annoying. However, this may sound like music to some people’s ears, so I always put a vote for removing microphone spammers if they don’t stop. Same thing goes with prepubescent children who talk forever about the most pointless things. Should impressionable youth under the age of 12 be playing such a violent game anyway? It’s a quandary for me: I’d like to do the player and server some good, but then there would be cries of admin abuse and ageism intolerance from you grousers.

Article III. Language.

This applies to both microphone and text usage. While I do not approve the use of foul language and cuss words, I generally do not punish for it. Only when the foul language turns into racial slurs or insulting do I voice my disapproval.

Racial slurs is an area where I turn into a martinet. Ignorant usage of racial slurs, including all variations in spelling of, but not limited to, derogatory terms for any Asians, Africans, Europeans, Americans, Australians, and Antarcticans (you yellow-eyed penguin!), that are not directed at someone, will get first a warning and then a kick/temporary ban. This includes the use of the word(s) in your name.

When racial slurs are directed at someone, however, that is when I get nasty. I will not tolerate the use of racial slurs in an insult. The one with the dirty mouth will get from a kick to a temporary ban. Use common sense, folks. Somebody’s only going to get hurt when you insult somebody, and calling somebody a derogatory term for an ethnicity that they probably aren’t is no exception. The server is part of the Wroaw community, and if you don’t have enough sense to respect your peers, you probably don’t deserve to play on the server.

It’s harsh, I know, but language is a powerful weapon and sometimes, words really do hurt. Just be glad I’m not going all PC on you (Don’t favor the male sex, it’s wommon! And it’s not stupid; it’s too economically disadvantaged to receive a proper education.).

Article IV. Punishments.

Listed below will be the viable reasons for punishment you may have received (from me). If you were punished and the reason is not listed below, it was most likely me forgetting to add it to the list, or maybe it was admin abuse.

Slap

-Just to make you pay attention or to help you realize you were doing something wrong (perhaps camping in the wrong spot at the wrong time?)
-You were AFK. This is not abuse: you were not an active player at the time of punishment, and therefore had your rights suspended.
-You requested it. Hey, don’t complain, it wasn’t a gratuitous slapping, you actually asked for it.

Multiple Slaps

-Excessive slaps for excessive camping. Or maybe you were just in a way-high-up camping position and deserved to go splat on the ground way down there.
-You were AFK. Again, your rights were revoked, and maybe I was trying to make you die by gravity.
-You were stuck. Be thankful, I was trying to get you unstuck.
-You were intentionally blocking a narrow passage so your teammates cannot get through.

Slay

-You were AFK and probably the last person on your team.
-You team killed me intentionally. I can usually tell when it’s on accident and when you’re trying to run me over.
-You played music over the microphone while alive despite previous warnings.
-You were stuck, probably in a location nobody can get to without noclip.
-You were doing something that was forbidden by popular vote (i.e. nade spamming, camping, spraying pornography, etc.)
-You killed somebody under protection (most likely in blahhh). You mess with the family, the family mess with you.
-Oops! I was in the slay menu and pressed the wrong number. Collateral damage, I’m terribly sorry. I always apologize.

Gag
-You kept playing songs while alive.
-You were voted as Most Annoying Voice in Game.
-You microphone spammed.

Kick

-You were AFK and the server was full.
-You repeatedly did something that would have warranted a slaying.
-You said something bad and I felt nice.
-You flooded the text despite a warning. If you couldn’t read the warning, then too bad: it’s your own fault that the warning got flooded out so quickly.
-You team killed multiple times despite a warning.
-Your insults were too many.

Ban

-You were hacking.
-You said something bad (most often the derogatory term for a human of African descent).
-A kick wouldn’t stop you from doing something bad.
-You had a Wroaw tag on and you aren't a member.


Appendix I (it’s not really an Amendment): The People’s Bill of Rights

You, as a player on the Wroaw Community Server, have a Bill of Rights as long as you are an active player who is contributing (not causing problems) to the experience of the other players and community of the server. If you are not, your Bill of Rights may be suspended or negated temporarily until you fulfill the above requirements again (unless, of course, if you are hacking and permanently banned). Your first right may not be removed unless you are hacking.

1. You have the right to not be permanently banned.
2. You have the right to not be kicked or banned without a rational reason.
3. You have the right to vote (disregarding your race, class, or gender).
4. You have the right to dislike a person, place, thing, idea, or verb, so long as you don’t violate any of the above articles.
5. You have the right to not be abused by an admin without good reason.
6. You have the right to report admin abuse.
7. You have the right to play Counter-Strike on the WCS.
8. You have the right to enjoy yourself (if you don’t infringe on the rules).
9. You have the right to voice your opinion (if you don’t infringe on the rules).
10. You are entitled (hah, threw a curveball on the last one there) to spray non-pornographic images on the map as long as it is not permanent.

***DISCLAIMER*** This policy probably does not reflect those of the other admins on WCS. This means you cannot justify your actions to another admin with the reason “But TheCheat allows it.” Don’t do that, it’s not cool.

Hmm i am more in favor of just downright kicking the hlss dead or alive if i wanted to hear music i would open winamp. The rest is very nice tho.

there shouldn't be an apart section for multiple slaps, u can kill with slapping (yes even with 0 damage, ask someone:P:D)

cant we request multislap? i mean a single slap isnt the best...
and dont some admins slap to 1 hp, take away all weaps but knife for sudden death knife?
