Its Monday, the same corn dogs for lunch,
mustard on the left, ketchup right
hardly feel warm to the touch.
Same petty conversation from the weekend
of fragmented drunken escapades
knee deep in ecstasy
as dust skirts sporadically
clinging to frost barren windows
when I feel the phone hum in my pocket.
Slow to respond, I jerk my arm
like puppet master to marionette
my arm searches for the opening in my pocket,
fingertips lathering denim
until the crash against the plastic.
Flipping it open, I squint at the text...
I got arrested…
Staring through the words I
lower my head, rubbing bloodshot eyes
to expel the demons.
That same damn glare of the sun
bores through the glass onto me,
singling me out,
as a crow sits perched on the roof,
ruffling its feathers
before extending its carrion wings
taking flight, eclipsing its body
behind lacerated bricks.

you got talent kid.. keep it up. The one thing that defines human beings from everyone else is CREATIVITY. We need more fucked up poets in this world.
