Here's the situation! - a hobbit - 01-15-2006 07:25 AM

so my other computer has a problem, the bsod pops up and:

0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x80576F73, 0xF797D930, 0x00000000)

after googling around a bit ive basically come to the conclusion that its a ram error my other computer keeps getting. i have 2 sticks of 512 ram in the comp, and i tried removing each one and keeping the other in and starting up windows. still get the error. i havent run a RAM test, then again whenever i try to login to a user on windows XP it restarts. ill go try it in safe mode in a second.

i was thinking about reformatting it and then installing windows 2000, but if RAM is the problem wouldnt it still be faulty after installing windows2k?

also, what if it isnt the ram thats faulty?

go you computer nerds go! >.>

Try the ram in a different machine, if it dont work then go buy new ram, otherwise reinstall xp should fix w/e error there is.

That's an uber common error to receive, it can occur either by bad programming, or faulty devices. How old is your comp?

Try this: http://www.memtest86.com/ to test your memory.

Is it the same program that crashes all the time? If so, it can probably be reinstalled without reinstalling the whole OS, like if it's a video driver or whatnot.

Sorry this is off topic but where does everyone get those cool signatures with "ps2 owner" "counterstrike player" "WOW player" "penis lover" etc. And how are they in signature, I thought signatures could only be text not pictures. I would like to have one, is there a special way to make them or does someone on the web make em. Thanks sorry for off topic, I dont know how to fix ur problem

Static electricity can fix all RAM problems.
