About the most reliable hard drives you can buy are Western Digital. If your mobo will support SATA, I suggest you get a SATA hard drive since they're faster and usually the same price or up to around $10 more.

how can i check if my mobo supports it?
i have a radeon 9800 xt power color and 60gb of max space. everything sucks though because I have something like 10000 infected files that slows down to fps on 1.6 CS to about 10 or so. but my bro is gunna get rid of them and we will prolly invest in some virus protection.

Well the mobo should say under hard drive ports something like (here's mine as an example):
PATA 2 x ATA 100 up to 4 Devices
SATA 2 x SATA 150
