I went to a party last saturday and someone said "play some music, who's got an ipod?". I was the only person who did at that moment, and I struggled to find appropriate music that chicks and a few drunk dudes liked. As I might have said before, I listen to mainly hard rock and metal.
I don't know if you guys listen to the mainstream popular stuff, but if you do could you give me some suggestions to prevent this from happening again? I'm open to anything except country. I'm pretty much just trying to prevent myself from sticking out in those kind of situations.

depends on the situation and what everyone really likes, generally find a popular local radio stations website look at its playlist and just download that and add it to a playlist.
example. around here 95.7 is the place for hip hop / r&b so you google up their site
http://www.kiss957.com/iplaylist/playlist.html look for the music playlist and bam, you got yourself what most peoples are listening to when driving around anyways. throw in a few songs that you like that arent on there but are still in the same catagory and your all set. also check out girl talk, its fucking sick.

yeah pretty much what womb said, check out local radio stations and see whats popular. you can look at the billboard top100 popular music get some of that and make a playlist just for parties haha.

But aside from listening to your radio station or browsing Top 40 sites, there isn't very much else you can do to find mainstream music.
