Still doesn't change that the anime of Haruhi sucked. I've read a bit of death note at one point or another, wasn't bad, but not my type of anime either. (This was also so long ago, I forgot about it until you posted the description of it.)
i watched the first 2 episodes of deathnote anime, and its pretty good.
